Re: Custom Elec-Trak dozer blade

On a related subject, does anyone have some photos of the handle mechanism used to angle the stock blade from side to side? I have the brochure, but I would really like to see the actual unit installed on either an Elec-Trak or an EGT. I am trying to fabricate one and it's not going all that well. I need to see how it works at the pivot end and the shape of the rod that connects the handle to the blade. I am having some problem getting the one that I am building from not interfering with the front wheel during a hard left turn with the blade angled left. Sounds and looks simple but it would be great to see one and how it all works together - thanks! :?: Ken

Yes, I will do for sure. Two things though - I need to see the "stock" setup, and it needs to warm up a bit here! Wow, it's been really cold here and garage is not heated. Minus double-digit temps does not bode well for working in metal...

Here is a shot of the bottom bar with dimensions.

It goes into the plow receiver and bends down at a 90 degree angle. Out the bottom and is held in place by washer and pin.

That's great Robert - this will help a lot... damn, now I have to get another 3 foot length of bar-stock! The biggest trouble with the cold is trying to get enough heat out of my torch to properly bend the bar. It's been so cold that my brazing gas cylinder was nearly frozen. I could barely get any gas flow. i literally had to take the torch into the house for an hour to get it to work properly - bring on the warmer weather! Thanks again. :)

Hey Lance,

It is 70 degrees here today

Although, this front is going to produce nasty a storm and cold weather is on it's way back :?

Hang in there. Spring will be here soon.

What! 70°! That's warmer than it is in our house today. Nearly a foot of snow since last night, and it's barely gotten up to freezing one day in the last month, with many nights below 0. I like winter,... but worst of all, I need new batteries, and I just can't decide what to do, so I've been using the green and yellow tractor to move snow, and I come in smelling of diesel.
Everything on this wonderful forum is such a tremendous education for me, these pictures clarify a lot. Thanks again ,so much to everyone here, you are my missing link. Lance
