42in Snow Thrower

Postby Terpstra » Wed Jan 16, 2013 2:36 pm

I have a 42in snow thrower I will be restoring to go with my E20 restore job. Wondering what people have used for the cable that turns the shoot?? Mine is shot.

I used some plastic covered cable that was used to hold an above ground swimming pool cover in place during the off season.... I think I sill have some left if you need it. Let me know.

I'm pretty sure I bought mine from McMaster Carr. If I remember, they were the only ones with the correct diameter and plastic covering. It has to be sheathed or it will rust in no time.

Best source of stainless cable is ship/yacht/marine outfitters. They usually have the hydraulic press to fit loops, adjusters on the ends too since most salt water yacht rigging is stainless for obvious reasons. Anyone 'near the sea'?
