AM-48 Sickle Mower Conversion

Postby ChrisW » Wed Apr 27, 2016 9:42 pm

Hey folks,

I have a Haban sickle mower originally sold for a 1970's Bolens 1050 ICE tractor. As those of you who have looked at these in any detail you know that the mower is exactly the same as the AM-48 sold for the Elec Traks. The difference being in the mounting kit. I have a copy of GEH 4027 thanks to our friend in Tennessee. Building the mounting brackets doesn't appear to be much of a challenge for me as an experienced welder and sometime fabricator. I would like some dimensions for length width and thickness of bar stock used to build the three main pieces of the hitch mount. Also does anyone know where I can purchase the motor and what size pulley was used on this machine? About the only other part that I will need to construct will be the lift handle which appears to be constructed from 1" square tubing reinforced in the ends. For this all I need is the distance from bend to bend.

Thanks,

Autumn Train :)

I had one of the original mowers last year. But, sold it to someone in MN. The original mower used either an E8 or E10 traction motor if I'm not mistaken. Someone here or Harold Z. might have one. Not sure what HP they were. But, I have a new Scott 36v 1/2HP face-mount motor I would sell if interested. Its fatter and shorter than the original...

Sorry I can't help with the other info needed.

I removed and flipped the piece that mounts on the flexpads so you could see underneath. The steel is 3/16", 1/4", or 3/8". Motor pulley is 3" OD. No info labels on the motor. Hope the photos help.

Chad Bush (administrator/moderator) might have an extra E10 motor. If he sees this thread, maybe he could check for you... ;)
