DIELECTRIC GREASE?

DIELECTRIC GREASE?

Postby 37oldsguy » Sun Feb 28, 2016 12:56 pm

I just bought a new set of batteries after 5+ years use on my old ones. Should I use dielectric grease on my terminals? I've always had lots of corrosion there and had to remove the clamps and clean them twice a year. Thoughts?

Old retired battery guy says yup - but - any grease or even good old Vaseline will do the same. Most importantly though is don't overfill your batteries, and dry up any moisture on the battery tops, and cables, and connectors, before you replace the battery caps ! Just a light coating should do just fine !

Thanks all for the quick answers. Received my new batt cables from Harold Z Monday, greased them and the posts and we,re off and running again. Very nice cables and 1/3 the price compared to local store.
